Funding For D.R.I.V.E.N. – What’s Needed & How You Can Help

DRIVEN receives no ongoing funding.

For the past 5 years the agencies represented on the DRIVEN Steering Committee have covered the cost of staff time to work on the initiative because they believe in the benefits a co-located model of service will bring to victims of domestic violence in Durham. In the past DRIVEN has covered some of the costs of the initiative through a grant from the Ministry of the Attorney General and private donations.

The current DRIVEN Clinic is being made available through;

  • The donation of Clinic space by Durham Children’s Aid Society
  • The donation of staff time by the agencies working together on site at the Clinic
  • a grant from The Ontario Trillium Foundation which will support some of the costs of the initiative for the 2010/2011

Significant funds are required to move this initiative ahead, expanding clinic time and services into a permanent contributing member of Durham’s safety net for victims of domestic violence.

Our goal is to have an entire building or a larger, dedicated section of a building in which an even broader range of service agencies can co-locate staff on a permanent basis, providing an even greater range of services to victims of domestic violence.
To achieve this goal we need funding to purchase or rent building space, or a building donated for the purpose.

In the meantime, donated funds will be put toward the costs of providing ongoing direct service, promotion of those services to ensure that the victims who need help know where they can come, and activities directed toward achieving sustainable funding.
